# Electricity Bill Calculator

The main site is for the United Kingdom, with prices in pounds and pence. Pages under /en-us/ are for the United States, with prices in dollars and cents. Keep regional rates, charges and billing guidance separate.

Calculations are estimates based on the figures entered, not supplier bills or live tariff quotes. Example rates are illustrative. Use the relevant page's publication date, sources and assumptions when discussing prices or time-sensitive energy news.

The UK calculator uses meter readings, a unit rate, a daily standing charge and a billing period, with an optional VAT adjustment. The US calculator uses kWh or meter readings, one flat electricity rate, fixed charges and additional taxes or fees. It does not automatically model tiered or time-of-use rates, demand charges or solar export credits.
